Valli Muthukumar

I am an alumnus of the Healthcare Leadership Academy (HLA) and a Consultant in Trauma and Orthopaedics with a special interest in lower limb arthroplasty and soft tissue knee surgery. My journey through the HLA has been transformative, equipping me with essential leadership and management skills that I have applied in clinical practice, service improvement, and teaching.

I have actively contributed to healthcare sustainability by leading initiatives aimed at optimizing elective surgery pathways, improving efficiency, and reducing the environmental impact of surgical practices. My experience in leadership roles, including healthcare management projects and multidisciplinary collaborations, has reinforced my passion for mentoring future leaders in sustainability within healthcare.

As a mentor, I aim to guide and inspire HLA scholars interested in integrating sustainability into their leadership journey. Whether through quality improvement projects, innovative surgical practices, or broader system changes, I am eager to support mentees in developing impactful, sustainable solutions. My experience in NHS service development, research, and teaching will enable me to provide practical insights and strategic advice to help them navigate their leadership goals.

I look forward to contributing to the HLA community by sharing my experiences and supporting the next generation of healthcare leaders in driving sustainable change.
