10 Year Anniversary Branding (3)_edited.

A warm welcome from our CEO, Dr. Johann Malawana, as we celebrate a decade of growth, impact, and community at HLA.

As we approach the 10 year anniversary of the HLA, I can't help but pause and reflect on the journey so far. The scholars are what make the HLA possible, and the alumni who stay involved are what give it longevity and will shape its ultimate impact on the world. Ali, Melody and I gathered the first group of scholars in 2016 to pilot a new type of leadership training that I saw a great need for in the healthcare sector. This experimental initiative struck a chord, and I now have the privilege of watching those in this community act on their own inspiration, drive toward their own goals, and continue to positively impact healthcare systems.

The Community has grown from the initial dozen in the first cohort to more than 500 alumni, along with many many more faculty and supporters. We started in London and through the ambition and hard work of individuals in the community the HLA programme became international with cohorts across the globe. When individuals take it upon themselves to be community builders in their own locales, the ripple-effect is profound, not only benefiting their lives but the lives of untold others as time goes on through the health systems they are impacting. I love to see such passion and initiative and encourage it whenever I see it. I see it a lot within the HLA.

Director

The Healthcare Leadership Academy

We are now entering a new phase in the life of this organisation. People have been hearing about the HLA "through the grapevine" for a while now, as it has become an established and respected presence in the global healthcare ecosystem. The standards for entry were always high, and will continue to be, as will our commitment to making it available to those of any background or means. The standards we care about are not privileges of birth, but character, attitude, and ability. For this reason, as someone who was accepted into the Healthcare Leadership Academy programme, I hope you understand what this means about you and your potential. With or without this community, you are someone who can achieve what you put your mind to. And since you are a part of this amazing network, your opportunity to reach higher and achieve greater impact is that much more. Make use of it!

A Heartfelt Welcome from the HLA Senior Management Team on Our 10-Year Milestone

As The Healthcare Leadership Academy marks its 10-year anniversary, we do so with immense pride and gratitude for the extraordinary global community that has grown alongside us. It is a true privilege to be part of a network of leaders who are united not by geography or discipline, but by a shared commitment to improving health systems and serving communities with integrity, curiosity and courage. Over the past decade, our organisation has demonstrated the power of collective leadership: learning from one another across borders, amplifying diverse voices, and translating ideas into meaningful action. As the Senior Management Team, we remain committed to a network where collaboration, inclusivity and impact will thrive for the next decade and beyond.
